Glass
Glass is a noncrystalline material that can maintain indefinitely, if left undisturbed, its overall form and amorphous microstructure at a temperature below its glass transition temperature. While nonceramic materials such as metals and polymers may be produced as a glass by rapidly cooling the materials from a liquid state to a temperature below their glass transition temperature, ordinary usage of the term "glass" refers to an amorphous form of ceramics, e.g., silica-based material, used for household objects such as light bulbs and windows.
